So here it comes, wine rc1!

For Tiger and Leopard
Some words about rc1:
Jeremy White on wine-devel about rc1:
We had a big push by people to get features in prior to the freeze, so a lot of new features went in right before the freeze. Now we have to shake out the regressions and fix them.
That process is a PITA, and usually takes a few weeks.
So what to do if the app does not work anymore? From wineqh:
This is the first release candidate for Wine 1.0. Please give it a
good testing to help us make 1.0 as good as possible. In particular
please help us look for apps that used to work, but don’t now. See
http://wiki.winehq.org/PlatinumRegressionHunt for details.
People say that 0.9.58 is the most stable atm!
About my builds:
My builds are not vanilla Darwine. I added a X11 startupscript and dynamically link against freetype lib, which I store inside the wine.bundle. This way, I don’t have to install libs and symlinks directly on to your system. Read: if you remove the Darwine folder, they are gone, too.
Other files you want to delete, if you decide to remove wine completely:
~/Library/Preferences/org.wine.winehelper.plist
~/.wine
About OpenGL:
It’s not working on OS X. Sorry. It’s because of a bug in Apples X11 (which is still present in XQuartz 2.2.1), not wine.
Includes TRiX 0.9.3, which is a OS X frontend to Dan Kegels winetricks, to install some essential fonts, libraries or runtimes.

TRiX is a simple frontend to Dan Kegels winetricks for wine/Darwine. Winetricks is:
Quick and dirty script to download and install various redistributable runtime libraries
So it should help to download and install certain fonts and libraries that are needed by some windows programs to run under wine.
I’d like to point a finger at the font downloads. Loads of applications on windows (an therefore wine) depend on the corefonts. These fonts are not part of wine and can’t be packed together with wine because of different licenses. So if You had apps, showing only symbols and garbage, this is for You
.
Wintricks offers to install some other notable libraries and Runtimes like
- Visual Basic runtiems
- C++ runtimes
- xvid, intel and ffdshow codecs for audio and video en/decoding
- .NET 1.1/2.0 and mono 1.1/1.9
TRiX comes with cabextract and wget binaries, so it should work out of the box. It will download the current version of winetricks and install the selected items.
download TRiX
as always, enjoy

[update 1]
0.9.1 Built wget with –disable-nls (native language support) to get rid of the libintl dependency.
[update 2]
0.9.2 Built with sha1sum, as winetrix mac workaround is still not working and sha1sum is used now.

After some busy weeks finally the new builds of Darwine.
I built it against FontForge 20080203 as 20080302 gives me some errors.
All dough I’m sitting on a somewhat slower machine (1.6ghz
), Internet Explorer 6 is working faster for me.

Ahh…
After a week of exhibition finally some snow.
We had pretty good conditions… it nearly made up the fact I had to take a sky group instead of a snowboard group. But my old ski boots needed a ride anyway

As I’ve recieving loads of feedback and ies4mac is not ready yet, I decided to update ies4osx to the codebase of ies4linux.
This will mainly fix the toolbar-problems on Darwine newer than .51 and add some more registry keys.
But,
there are some new features, too
.
txs to Pierre Rudloff, we now have a french translation of ies4osx.
…and I could’nt resist from adding a german one.
You find ies4osx here:
